Finger Lakes HBPA, Finger Lakes Racetrack Pledge Per Start Contribution to TAA

The Finger Lakes Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association and Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack have announced a $1 per start pledge to the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance.

The Finger Lakes meet runs until Nov. 28.

“The TAA is grateful for the contributions from the Finger Lakes HBPA and Finger Lakes Racetrack,” TAA president John Phillips said. “These funds will help support TAA-accredited organizations that provide a safe first exit for horses leaving the racetrack. We’re happy to count Finger Lakes Racetrack and Finger Lakes HBPA among our growing number of racetrack and HBPA supporters.”

The TAA’s funding provides annual grants awarded to accredited aftercare organizations and supports the inspection process of aftercare organizations. Currently, 64 organizations with approximately 170 facilities in North America hold TAA accreditation. Eight aftercare organizations hold TAA accreditation in New York, including Finger Lakes Thoroughbred Adoption Program. A full list can be found on ThoroughbredAftercare.org.

“We strongly believe the importance of quality aftercare cannot be overstated and should never be overlooked. Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack is pleased and proud to add its name to the impressive list of stakeholders who support the efforts of the TAA and the Thoroughbred aftercare organizations they serve,” Chris Riegle, president/general manager of Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack.

“The Finger Lakes horsemen are pleased to lend their support to a great organization that over the years has been so helpful to our own on-track adoption program,” Finger Lakes HBPA president David Brown said.
