How Horsemen Can Take Action Regarding H-2B Visas

Dear Horsemen,

We need horsemen to let Congress, the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Labor know that horse racing and many other industries desperately need more H-2B visas while awaiting a permanent solution to a severe workforce shortage.

The omnibus appropriations bill passed by Congress and signed into law by President Trump includes a provision that may find a temporary fix for the H-2B shortfall for the remainder of the fiscal year. The legislation gives the Department of Homeland Security the discretion to raise the current 66,000 H-2B cap by an additional 69,320 visas.

The H-2B Workforce Coalition (of which the National HBPA, NTRA and Kentucky Equine Education Project are members) has turned its focus toward the Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen and Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta to immediately release all of the additional visas authorized by the law.
