Keeneland Releases BCup Parking Plan

Blood-Horse

Most racing fans coming to Lexington this fall for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships will likely need to take advantage of three park-and-ride locations around the city.

Parking at Keeneland will be extremely limited Oct. 30-31, when the racetrack will host the championship races for the first time. Parking at Keeneland will be limited to those with official pre-paid parking credentials. Vehicles arriving at the track without an official onsite parking credential will be redirected to one of the park-and-ride locations.

Shuttles will be run from Rupp Arena in downtown, Whitaker Bank Ballpark north of downtown off North Broadway and inside New Circle Road, and at the Kentucky Horse Park, about 18 miles north of downtown Lexington off Interstate-75.

Park-and-ride tickets purchased in advance online will be $20 per car each day at all three locations for parking on October 30-31. All park-and-ride parking passes will be available as a print-at-home pass that will include a unique barcode. All patrons can either print out the passes and show them at the lots upon entry or can also show the passes from a smartphone. Park-and-ride passes will not be mailed. All Park-and-ride parking passes will be emailed to the user in an immediate email confirmation.

Patrons may also buy a $25 event-day “drive in” pass only at the Kentucky Horse Park. No event-day parking will be sold at Rupp Arena or at Whitaker Bank Ballpark; only pre-paid online purchases will be accepted.

Breeders’ Cup ticketholders without cars may also purchase a day of “walkup” pass, a $5 shuttle ticket that leaves from Rupp Arena on Friday and Saturday.

All park-and-ride passes include courtesy shuttles to/from Keeneland and complimentary Breeders’ Cup World Championships track programs for each person.
