SUCCEED Joins Claiming Crown as a Sponsor
SUCCEED® Digestive Conditioning Program has signed on as a sponsor of the Nov. 15 Claiming Crown. Ohio-based manufacturer Freedom Health is excited about supporting select horse-racing events with its flagship all-breed digestive support product.
The Claiming Crown was created in 1999 by the National Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association (NHBPA) and the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA) to give thoroughbred racing’s blue-collar workhorses a day in the spotlight. Churchill Downs is the Claiming Crown’s host track for the third time in four years, its central location adding convenience and providing another lure for horsemen who have never run beneath the Twin Spires.
“What I love about the Claiming Crown is that it reaches so far and wide.” said Paula Dorsey, SUCCEED’s Vice President of Business Development. “When you have an industry leader with the credibility, it’s a win-win, choosing an organization that is going to represent the kind of people we want to participate with.”
Sold globally, “SUCCEED is an all-natural digestive conditioning program that works to right the entire GI Tract, and when used daily, keep every horse at its best,” Dorsey said. Created to serve all horses, it is designed to be particularly beneficial for horses experiencing digestive issues due to high-grain diets or potentially stressful conditions such as travel and competition.
The winners of the Claiming Crown’s eight races will receive a SUCCEED® Challenge. The Challenge is a 75-day program containing 90 servings, enough for the 15-day double serving to start and an additional 60 servings for a total of 75 days, valued at $315. Additionally, the winners of the $200,000 Claiming Crown Jewel and $175,000 Claiming Crown Emerald on turf will also get branded horse blankets.
“While racehorses are wonderfully created equine athletes, they present gastrointestinal challenges at all levels of competition,” said National HBPA CEO Eric Hamelback. “SUCCEED is a well-studied product that can assist trainers in their often daily battles with horses’ gut health, and we embrace their sponsorship. Their enthusiasm for the Claiming Crown matches our own in wanting to promote the horses and the horsemen who make American racing possible.”
The eight Claiming Crown races are conducted under starter-allowance conditions, with race specifications requiring participants to have competed for a certain claiming price or cheaper within a designated time period.
The 2025 Claiming Crown purses total $1.1 million, plus $130,000 in Kentucky-bred purse supplements ranging from an additional $10,000 to $25,000 per race.
