Suffolk Downs will host the final of three Racing and Food Truck Festival Days this Saturday, October 31 which will coincide with the Breeders’ Cup World Championships from Keeneland in Lexington, KY. There will be a special early first post time of 11:05 a.m.

As it did for the live racing card on October 3, the track will again reduce the takeout to 15% on all wagers. The takeout rate, the percentage of wagering dollars retained by the pari-mutuel association, has been lowered from 26% on all multiple bets, including exacta, trifecta, the 50 cents Pick 3 and Pick 4, the ten cents superfecta and $1 daily double. The reduction is from 19% on straight win, place, and show bets.

“We are very appreciative of the support we have received from the horsemen, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission and, especially from local racing fans,” said Chip Tuttle, the Chief Operating Officer at Suffolk Downs. “With simulcasting from the Breeders’ Cup available which will feature Triple Crown champion American Pharoah in the Classic, as well as a great card assembled by our racing office, it is sure to be an exciting day.”

Saturday’s eleven-race card will include three stakes races for Massachusetts-breds and a total of four turf races. Miss Wilby, winner of two consecutive local stakes races, tops the field for the $75,000 John Kirby Stakes for trainer Marcus Vitali. Vitali, who enjoyed much success in New England, will also saddle Valid in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) on Friday.

As they were for the first two of the three live racing days, base purses will be paid back to fifth place with an $800 “runner’s reward” for horses finishing from sixth to last, plus a $200 trainer’s bonus for every starter. The third and final Racing and Food Truck Festival is scheduled for Saturday, October 31 which coincides with the second day of the Breeders’ Cup.
