The 19th annual Track Superintendents Field Day, originally scheduled for this coming September 14-16, has been rescheduled for March 2021. The event will still be held at Remington Park in Oklahoma City and hosted by that track’s superintendent, Bob Blackburn.

The event brings together track superintendents and their crews from around North America and beyond to share ideas and information about track maintenance, safety, equipment and more. There are no registration fees thanks to a long list of sponsors headed by title sponsor Equine Equipment. Last year’s event at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races in West Virginia attracted more than 100 track superintendents and staff from American Quarter Horse, Thoroughbred and Standardbred tracks in the United States, Canada and beyond.

“Every track superintendent takes safety seriously, so in light of the current health situation and with many tracks’ racing schedules in flux, we made the decision to postpone the Field Day,” said Roy Smith, track superintendent at Indiana Grand Racing & Casino and founder of the event.

“The Track Superintendents Field Day is all about the best practices related to safety for all of the horse world’s participants,” said Steve Andersen, founder of Equine Equipment. “Our equine and human athletes rely on the skill and expertise these dedicated professionals have acquired and honed throughout their career. This event is vital to our industry, so to miss the 2020 gathering is a shame but we shall rise again and look forward to a spectacular 2021 event.”
