Thoroughbred Aftercare Forum

This Forum will provide the audience with an overview of the subject of Thoroughbred aftercare, its history and current status. Existing funding sources and placement programs and options will be discussed. Facility accreditation will be addressed. Problems, pitfalls, challenges and rewards associated with Thoroughbred rehabilitation, retraining and re-homing will be explored.

Track Surfaces Forum

This Forum will present an overview of a variety of issues associated with racing surfaces. Issues such as track composition, track design, track maintenance, and the impact of weather conditions on the racing surface will be explored. The role of racing surfaces and equine health and training will be touched on, as will prepare racing surfaces for “big days” of racing. For handicappers, the Forum with explore such issues as track bias, tracks favoring speed or closers and how fast is the rail.

Canterbury Park Partnership Forum
This Forum will explore the historic business arrangement between Canterbury Park, the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community and the Minnesota HBPA. The Forum participants will discuss the background of the arrangement, the current status and the future road ahead. This creative arrangement demonstrates when parties work together in a cooperative fashion, all parties, including horsemen and horsewomen substantially benefit.
